CHILD ALERT FOUNDATION : ADVANCING IMMUNIZATION EQUITY IN GHANA THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Child Alert Foundation (CAF), a reputable member of the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health, is one of the 100 civil society organizations actively partnering with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, under the COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Support (CDS3) project.
Project Title: COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Support (CDS3) Strategic Purpose: To bridge immunization and vaccination gaps across underserved populations Target Group: High-risk and vulnerable populations susceptible to COVID-19 complications
As part of its commitment to community health, Child Alert Foundation is currently undertaking a comprehensive immunization awareness campaign in the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region. This campaign is designed to educate communities on the critical role of vaccines in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, particularly COVID-19, and to address vaccine hesitancy and misinformation.
Importance of Vaccination
Vaccination remains one of the most effective public health interventions for reducing morbidity and mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases. Immunization protects individuals and communities by creating herd immunity, safeguarding those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons. In the context of COVID-19, vaccines are vital tools in preventing severe illness, reducing hospitalizations, and enabling the safe return to everyday social and economic activities.
By promoting accurate information, community engagement, and access to vaccines, Child Alert Foundation is contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s national goal of achieving universal health coverage and resilient health systems.
